The HippoCV Story

I was getting discouraged at the dismay of a friend who was looking for a job. She was temping for an agency and the only people making any money was the agency. When she applied for jobs, some of the job descriptions sounded like nothing more than glorified toilet cleaners (so to speak) and other job descriptions sounded like you need to be a rocket scientist with a hand full of degrees and almost perfect skills in all areas just to apply for a job to answer a phone. Then there was the paperwork..getting all the right papers photocopied, adjusting the CV to fit in with the advertisement requirements, the cover letter etc. The BIG rush to get it all done and lodged before the closing date. Then the wait to hear if you made it to the short list or if you are going to be contacted for an interview. The disappointments when you have to go through the whole job seek and cover letter and paperwork again..

When she eventually found a job it wasn't long before she discovered that the amount of work that was expected from her deserves at least twice the money they were paying her. She was too scared to apply for other jobs, as she was afraid her employer would find out and then she would lose the job she's got. We needed the income, so she couldn’t resign and look for jobs full time. As looking for a proper job and finding time for interviews is nearly a full time job.

The main aim for me was to cut out all the obstacles between my friend and the right job..
For my friend to apply for as many jobs as possible without sending in CV’s or let someone approach her with a job that she never thought of applying for.
